PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT
1. Purpose
This Private Membership Agreement establishes the terms under which an individual voluntarily becomes a member of SPACES OF LEARNING, (SOL, the Association) a private association formed for the mutual benefit, education, collaboration, and advancement of its members.
The Association exists to protect our freedom of choice regarding all aspects of learning.
Members understand that SOL will be participating in alliances that generate critical mass for the regeneration of the Earth and protect our freedoms.
The Association provides a safe, private environment in which members may exchange knowledge, ideas, resources, experiences, and services.
2. Voluntary Membership
Membership is entered into knowingly and voluntarily. By signing this Agreement, the undersigned requests membership in the Association and agrees to conduct themselves in accordance with this Agreement and the Association’s principles, policies, and procedures.
Membership does not create an employment, partnership, agency, or ownership relationship unless separately established in writing.
3. Living Doctrine
The Association is guided by a Living Doctrine: a body of foundational principles intended to remain active, relevant, and responsive to the growth and experience of the membership.
The Living Doctrine may develop and be refined over time while remaining faithful to the Association’s fundamental purpose and values.
4. Member Rights and Responsibilities
Members agree to participate freely, respectfully, and responsibly in Association activities in the following manner:
- respect the privacy and dignity of fellow members;
- act in good faith;
- respect Association property and resources;
- honor agreements knowingly entered into with other members;
- follow reasonable safety and operational requirements established for Association activities;
- refrain from conduct materially harmful to the Association or its members.
5. Privacy and Confidentiality
Association activities are intended primarily for members and invited participants. Members agree to respect confidential information identified as such and not to disclose another member’s private information without permission, except when disclosure is required by constitutional law or reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern.
6. Assumption of Responsibility
Each member remains responsible for their own decisions and participation. As a Private Member you understand and agree to forever take responsibility, unlimited liability and 100% risk for your own respective safety and health.
Where Association activities involve physical work, travel, education, outdoor activities, workshops, food production, construction, wellness practices, or similar activities, members agree to consider the risks involved and make their own informed decisions regarding participation.
Any separate activity requiring a specific waiver, informed consent, or other agreement will be governed by an additional written document.
7. Governance
The Association may establish stewards, officers, committees, councils, or other leadership roles to facilitate its activities.
The method of appointment, authority, responsibilities, and removal of those individuals shall be established by the Association’s governing documents.
8. Membership Contributions
Contributions, donations, program fees, membership dues or other investment shall be disclosed to members as applicable.
Financial participation does not automatically confer ownership or voting rights unless expressly provided.
9. Resolution of Disagreements
Members are encouraged to resolve disagreements first through good-faith communication. The Association may establish mediation, facilitated dialogue, or another internal dispute resolution process. Nothing in this Agreement is intended to eliminate rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived.
10. Termination of Membership
A member may resign at any time. Any refunds due are subject to policies and limitations of the Association.
The Association may suspend or terminate membership for material violation of this Agreement or its governing policies, subject to whatever notice and review procedures the Association establishes.
11. Compliance With Applicable Law
The Association intends to conduct its activities consistently with applicable law.
Nothing in this Agreement shall be interpreted as creating an exemption from a law, regulation, tax obligation, licensing requirement, or governmental authority where such an exemption does not lawfully exist.
If any provision is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue to be enforceable.
12. Acknowledgment
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this Private Membership Agreement, have had an opportunity to ask questions about it, and voluntarily request membership in the Association.
